– About me

Advanced technology with human conversation

Dr. Díaz Tasende is the co-founder and Scientific Director of ICAdig. A specialist in Gastroenterology, he trained at the 12 de Octubre University Hospital in Madrid (1998-2002), where he has spent the majority of his professional career. He has held key leadership positions, including Head of the Endoscopy Unit (2019-2025), Unit Coordinator (2016-2019), and Patient Safety Officer for the Gastroenterology Department (2013-2025).

His expertise in advanced digestive endoscopy includes a fellowship in endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) at Hospital Clínic Barcelona (2009) and specialized training in Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD) at the National Cancer Center Hospital in Tokyo (2014), a world-renowned center for these techniques. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Management from Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona.

Since 2021, he has served as an Associate Professor at the Complutense University of Madrid, where he also directs the Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Update Course at Hospital 12 de Octubre. Additionally, he collaborates on academic programs at the University of Alcalá and Francisco de Vitoria University.

His institutional leadership has been instrumental in public health policy, having served as the Coordinator of the Colorectal Cancer Screening Program for the Community of Madrid (2016-2018) and as a member of the National Executive Committee of the Alliance for the Prevention of Colorectal Cancer (2017-2021), representing the SEPD and the AEG.

"Understanding each individual’s needs requires not only listening to their story and understanding their context, but helping them find the essential pieces to build a narrative from a scientific perspective. Transforming personal stories into method and science is one of the most important tasks of any physician."

– Frequently asked questions

Your questions, answered

When should I see a digestive specialist?
If you experience symptoms such as frequent heartburn, abdominal pain, heavy digestion, persistent diarrhea or constipation, changes in bowel habits, difficulty swallowing, or blood in the stool, it is advisable to consult a specialist for an accurate evaluation. Do not wait for symptoms to become chronic.
The video consultation has an identical structure to an in-person visit for everything that does not require a physical examination. It is especially useful for follow-ups, reviewing test results, and second opinions. For an initial assessment where a physical examination is necessary, we recommend an in-person consultation.
ICAdig does not work directly with insurance companies, which allows us to dedicate the necessary time to each consultation. If you have a reimbursement policy, we issue detailed invoices valid for recovering the full or partial amount of the consultation fee.
Endoscopic procedures are performed at HM Sanchinarro Hospital, with all the necessary technical and safety guarantees. The initial consultation and assessment take place at our center at C/ Juan Bravo 10.
