One of the most common errors in clinical practice is treating children as "small adults." Childhood illnesses have distinct presentations, progressions, and treatments.

– About me

Pediatrics through its own lens,
not through that of an adult

Behind every chronic abdominal pain, every repeated ER visit, and every endless battery of tests, there is often a clinical history that no one listened to calmly. Reclaiming that listening—and giving it back to families—is what defines Dr. Galicia’s practice.

Dr. Gonzalo Galicia Poblet is an Attending Physician in the Pediatrics Department at the Guadalajara University Hospital and an Associate Professor at the University of Alcalá, where he teaches Pediatrics and Pediatric Clinics in the Department of Medicine and Medical Specialties, and supervises doctoral theses, final degree projects, and master’s projects.

His area of specialization is pediatric gastroenterology, with a specific focus on digestive tract diseases that onset in childhood and adolescence, as well as nutrition during development. At ICAdig, he treats pediatric patients with digestive symptoms, from infants to adolescents.

He is the Coordinator of the Spanish Registry of Children with Helicobacter pylori Infection (RENIHp) and a full member of the Spanish Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (SEGHNP), where he holds leadership responsibilities in the Working Group on Helicobacter pylori and Peptic Ulcer Disease. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Pediatric Society of Madrid and Castilla-La Mancha, serving as the Head of Training.

"A proper assessment, based on a thorough clinical history and a rigorous physical examination, is essential to reach a diagnosis and understand the problem. In many cases, it avoids unnecessary tests and emergency visits that create a sense of illness—in both children and their families—that does not always reflect reality."

– Frequently asked questions

Your questions, answered

When should I see a digestive specialist?
If you experience symptoms such as frequent heartburn, abdominal pain, heavy digestion, persistent diarrhea or constipation, changes in bowel habits, difficulty swallowing, or blood in the stool, it is advisable to consult a specialist for an accurate evaluation. Do not wait for symptoms to become chronic.
The video consultation has an identical structure to an in-person visit for everything that does not require a physical examination. It is especially useful for follow-ups, reviewing test results, and second opinions. For an initial assessment where a physical examination is necessary, we recommend an in-person consultation.
ICAdig does not work directly with insurance companies, which allows us to dedicate the necessary time to each consultation. If you have a reimbursement policy, we issue detailed invoices valid for recovering the full or partial amount of the consultation fee.
Endoscopic procedures are performed at HM Sanchinarro Hospital, with all the necessary technical and safety guarantees. The initial consultation and assessment take place at our center at C/ Juan Bravo 10.
